]]>I have been bogged down with coursework in April and May, then exam revision at the end of May and July. Now with only 1 exam left (its a resit because I only got a B incited of an A), I have hit somewhat of a wall. For the first time, this year really, I have no revision or c/work to do. Laura Eastwood and Myself, along with Nate(he’s shy so that’s all I’ll say) have been creating exiting video projects, which could or could not get us sued out of existence, anyhow its something to do.
Then the other day I remembered a Diggnation episode (can’t remember the number, diggnation is EPIC BTW), where Alex talks about the .tv domains possibly going away because the island is sinking, and he talked about neglecting his site, I felt that I had been neglecting this blog and my social network life in general.
Alex said that it would be more worthwhile, because of the abundance of social networks, to have your main homepage (followsound.co.uk) just say ‘THIS is me and HERE and HERE are where you can find me’. I agree with him totally, Twitter and Friendfeed have become my blog because I have a simple mind that I only thinks in short (around) 140 character segments plus I love the instantaneous ability of the internet. I took the above and moved this blog to http://followsound.co.uk/blog and made a very meta and stylish homepage (at least I think so) that has all the relevant social networks and blogs on it.
I am also in the process of having a HUGE Twitter and Facebook clear out, unfriending anyone who I don’t find interesting and those people who aren’t interesting and don’t follow back, have got the chop :). (In the nicest way possible!)
I also took some tips from a segment that Natalie Del Conte did on the early show? (I have no clue of UK morning shows let alone American ones), anyway she talked about how to mange you inbox(es). So I deleted 3 years of GMail messages (which was surprisingly only 127MB) plus all the other emails got a spring clean (wow I had some junk) and I started a fresh which I am going to keep on top of by organizing and actually deleting things!
So there the past 6 months (and in some cases 3 years!) of neglect have finally been cleared out and organized!

The Guild has quickly won over 11 million online viewers with satirical plot that follows the daily lives of six online gamers and their on and off-line interactions.

In The Guild; Season One, Cyd Serman, (a.k.a Codex) played by Felicia, has hit rock bottom. However after a fellow player and guild member, “Zaboo” (Sandeep Parikh), mistakes their in-game ‘winkies’ for real life flirtation, he shows up on her doorstep. Codex brings all the members of her online guild face-to-face - with embarasingly awkward results. Picking up where Season One left off, Season Two finds Codex evicted, after an embarrassingly episode with Zaboo’s mother, and Zaboo shows no signs of giving up on their ‘romance’. As Codex struggles to deal with her issues and advise her ‘Guildies’ on their lives, neighbor shows an interest in Codex. To add to the drama (as if there wasn’t enough) the game’s server is unexpectedly shut down at the end of the series!
All 6 million of us tried-and-true fans, are certainly waiting with baited breath for Season 3!

]]>They found that the new processor has twice the power as the old DS Lite and the RAM has also been doubled. The battery is smaller at 840mAh, its not going to be a 10 hour road trip boredom solver.

When the product first came out it had good reviews on most sites, but people don’t seem to be keen on it. Buyers said that they liked the design and quality but where put off with the sound quality and battery life performance.
Hopefully this product being discontinued, indicates that Apple are planning to release their own stereo bluetooth headset.
Are Apple really going to be able to compete with the current selection of headsets? Or are they going to go down the same route again? Comment below with your thoughts.

]]>12seconds has announced that TweetDeck will now support its posting API, enabling the user to view and record in the handy little app.
12seconds.tv is a relativity new site where users upload a video, 12 seconds in length, and follow others updates.
The 12seconds blog states that,
It couldn’t be more simple. Enter your 12seconds credentials after you hit the “12″ button in the header of the application. Not only will you be able to view all that great 12seconds content, you’ll also be able to record a new post from your webcam by hitting the record button on either the top or the bottom of the column.
The 12seconds guys seem pretty smart, integration with the very popular and ever growing social market, Twitter, and an API that could allow any old blogger to enable video comments, or commentaries could see the company take a leap in the right direction.
They are keen to get developers on board:
If you want access to this API, you have to let us know so we can get you set up. You’re going to need a parnter ID. You can find more information about the authoring API as well as contact us to receive a partner ID here.

Google stated that this happened due to “a human error”. Googles is partnered with StopBadware.org which tags malicious sites though “both manual and automated methods” Google say that:
Unfortunately (and here’s the human error), the URL of ‘/’ was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and ‘/’ expands to all URLs.
This basically means that a “/” was entered into the list of malicious sites, so any site containing a “/” would be marked malicious. It doesn’t take a genius to work out that every site on the internet contains a “/”.
Luckily this problem was sorted out reasonably quick and didn’t cause anybody significant problems. I do though now have a heightened fear that my GMail, GCalender, GDocs and any other important information that Google stores, could be at risk of human error.

]]>Flash is used on a large, and still growing portion of the web. Despite this Mobile Safari has, to many users dismay (including myself), never supported flash.
This change comes as a surprise, as Steve Jobs has said, on a number of occasions, that the the current version of Flash didn’t perform well enough on the the iPhone. Apples partnership with ARM (the processors used in the iPhone) to help create an iPhone friendly verson of flash certainly has helped speed up the process.

Individual episodes, will set you back £2.49 each and £41.99 will get you a season 5 pass, which will automatically download new episodes. A free “Lost Starter Kit”, which gives you a five minute teaser, is available in high-definition too. The DVD series, currently, coats around £100.
High-definition TV show downloads were introduced as part of iTunes 8 at Apple’s “Let’s Rock” event, but until now HD TV shows has been limited to the US iTunes Store.

]]>Google gives the technical details into an open source browser called Google Chrome. I was hoping to download it today because they announced yesterday that the release date was today (Tuesday), it was even on the national news. However when I browse to http://gears.google.com/chrome/?hl=en I just get redirected to google.co.uk.
The browser is designed to “find that sweet spot between too many features and too few with a clean and simple user interface”.
Tabs run in separate processes and each is sandboxed so they cannot access each other, which is great for someone like me who has 50 open at once then you try and close one or accidentally click on some memory heavy javascript or flash and then possibly a whole days worth of work is lost! Plus I use Safari on windows which doesn’t have the restore feature of firefox, that has saved me many times from at least having to open all the pages again. The tabs will also be situated above the window, I guess because of the multi-process thing.
Google states that there is a “task manager like” thing to make solving that memory leak or bandwidth problem from within the browser.
Google also say that todays web browsers don’t work for todays internet. They say now the internet isn’t just pages, but its applications too. This is actually true blogtv.com, cnettv.com, iminlikewithyou.com, or even this blog use “pages within pages” or flash or silverlight.
V8 (JavaScript Virtual Machine) will be included too which should make java easier on the system.
Omnibox, the auto suggestion box that has now been rolled out on google’s homepage.
Chrome will have a ”speed dial” feature similar to Opera, where you can see the 9 most visited pages.
A privacy mode will also be included, or as Molly Wood from the Buzz Report pointed out “The Porno Mode”.
To fight malware and phishing attempts, Chrome is constantly downloading lists of harmful sites. Plus the tabs are sandboxed and therefore it is easier to isolate an attack.
And the best bit in my opinion, which is kinda obvious because its a google project, is that its open source.
I really think that Google have got this one right (unlike some other open source innovative systems of recent news *cough* ANDROID *cough*) as Google say is really is time for a change in the way browsers are structured.
