Last week in Followsound 2022.50

Monday saw our Choir’s winter performance, which I am pleased to say went very well. We sold over 150 tickets and had great support from family and friends. My only scary bit was singing “The Boar’s Head Carol” as I missed all the rehearsals for that piece, it was like fate didn’t want me to sing it. So I practised with the provided MP3s and tried my best. I’ll definitely be signing up for the spring term in the new year! The whole experience was a joy. I can’t think of anything better to do with my Monday evenings.

D and I were still in MCR this week, so it was all go having lunches, brunches, and so on with friends before Christmas. D has also been killing himself getting all the Christmas shopping done. I, however, have left all mine to Mr Amazon - shame about the postal strikes! My main issue with Christmas is the rampant capitalism being squarely presented to me without anything to fight back against. Unless, of course, I want to constantly be called a scrooge.

The last of the JingleJam streams was this week, and it was so amazing to see all the money raised, over £3.4 mn! D and I have continued to play some of the games, but other engagements have taken over.

I had a little leaving party (on Teams) for my current role and signed off for the last time on the 16th. My boss called and thanked me for everything, and it was so sweet and kind of him - I can’t thank him enough for all the support over the year.

D and I were supposed to be seeing Mary Mac this week. However, they had to cancel the gig as the panto work takes priority - which I can totally understand. It is a shame we won’t get to see JP before the New Year, however.

What we definitely couldn’t cancel this week was D’s birthday party. His actual birthday is next week (he’s always moaning it is too near Christmas), but we couldn’t get a better time. Suffice it to say, he had a wonderful time but a very sore head the next day (and I think the day after too).

In summary:

  • Choir performance (went very well);
  • More seeing friends before Christmas;
  • Rampant captialism;
  • Some sore heads (not mine, I shall add).
